Happy Valentines Day

I received this heart waffle iron for valentines day many year ago from my mom. Growing up Valentines day was always a big deal. Well, we pull it out every Valentines day and when the kids hear the little bird tweet they know that a tasty heart shaped gift is being delivered.

Fiesta at Rawhide

We all traveled to Phoenix for Avery's meet this weekend, minus T.J. We had dinner at one of our favorite places called Houston's at the Biltmore Fashion plaza.

I give anyone a guess what Trevor had for dinner?

Yes, RIBS..... all over himself, but boy did he enjoy them. Not one ounce of meat was left on any of these bones.

We headed to Rawhide for the Fiesta Bowl Championships. This place used to be in Scottsdale but now they have moved it toward Tucson. It now is on Indian land, so there was a big casino.

You can't go to Rawhide and not be held up by a gunman. The kids were released quite quickly when the gunman realized how much energy Trevor has and he's a pretty good shot with a gun.

4th on bars. She didn't place on beam. She didn't fall on the turn this time just everything else.

Surfin in Orange County

We attended the Surf City Classic in Orange County this past weekend. The sickness has run crazy in the gym so there were only 4 girls competing from avery's gym when we usually have 8.

This was avery's vault, notice her bent arms, but her legs were straight and toes pointed.

Floor exercise was great, she took out her full and changed the ending again and placed 6th. Her bars she scored an 8.9 to place 2nd.

The beam is her nemesis, she can tackle all of the back hand spring, back walkover but the stinkin turn (which is a requirement) we fall. But with a fall she scored 8.3 which is amazing.

She placed 5th overall and had a pretty good meet. Their team placed 2nd overall.

2008 pinewood derby

The most important day for a cub scouter is no, not making rank, but oh, yeah, THE PINEWOOD DERBY." This year our troop decided that the theme would be Food. Your car had to be a food. WHAT? And this would be the year that Brett could not be home to do the car. So being a good mom I took it upon myself to be in charge of the car. We came up with "OLD EL PASO TACO SAUCE." Why you ask? We saw it on the internet and it looked easy. So Trevor painted the car. I then proceeded (I mean Trevor proceeded) to heat off the label on a taco sauce bottle and we mod podged it to the car.
I then called Brett and asked the next step. Weight and Wheels the two most important parts. I had been around enough to know that you have to do something with the axles. So I (I mean Trevor) grounded down the axles and attached the wheels as well as the weight. We finally made our 5 oz. goal.

I named the car (I mean Trevor named the car) "Old El Paso." It was the night of the race, tension was high due to all the pressure of having the fastest car. My first race (I mean Trevor's first race) we lost. I was devastated. But then that little taco sauce car turned it on. And my car (whoops, Trevor's car) did great. I didn't win first but we came in second place, which I was thrilled.

I was really quite proud (sorry, Trevor was quite proud)!

Disney Princesses on Ice

Dev & I attended the Disney Ice show at the Orleans arena this week. It was very entertaining, other than they kind of get you on all of the t-shirts, cups, programs, cotton candy, etc and all of it is not cheap.

Vegas Vacation Meet

Meet season has begun. Our first meet was this past weekend at Avery's gym. There were 8 teams mostly from California and one from Idaho Falls. Avery is competing Level 7 and there are 8 girls on her team. Most of the girls above are 10 and 11 years of age.

Avery placed: 2nd on Floor, 1st on bars, 1st on vault, and 2nd on beam. She placed 2nd all-around. There were 10 girls competing in her age group.

New year, New word

I love my friends, Jen's idea of a word to represent the new year, you can find this great idea here...http://jensedillo.blogspot.com/. Jen, I hope it's okay to put that? It's hard to come up with a word for the whole year, but I think I may have found one. I worked at Mitt Romney's headquarters yesterday and saw how his campaign people believe and respect this man. Many people came into the office asking questions regarding what Romney stands for, everyone of these people wholeheartedly expressed where he stands on issues. The issue that came up to the most was immigration and it is interesting his point of view on how to tackle this issue. So to wrap it up my word for this year is FREEDOM. We are so blessed to have the right to vote. It was contagious working there yesterday, I left with Romney signs in hand so glad that I am able to have the opportunity to cast my vote and no in my heart without a doubt that the person I am voting for is the right person.

Now, my word may change in November if a certain woman running wins, my word will be: PASSPORT. I will be leaving the country. Don't forget to caucus on Saturday, January 19th.
